For the third day in a row, I haven’t had to refill my bird feeders. I was going through a tube of sunflower seeds every day and a tube of thistle every two days for a couple of months. All of the goldfinches and pine siskins have left, flown back to Arkansas or somewhere, leaving only a lonely two or three housefinches and the greater part of a 30 lb sack of birdseed. I guess I know what to look for next year

It's interesting to learn what birds folks down south see. Have you heard to Project FeederWatch?
I had between 50-100 birds daily at my feeders here in Ontario Canada during the depths of December and January - goldfinches, House Finches, Juncos, Mourning Doves, Blue Jays, Cardinals, and House Sparrows. Now that it's late winter I'm seeing fewer permanent residents, and a few migrants - a grackle, Red-winged Blackbirds, and a robin that's so hungry it's eating sunflower seed.

Not gone, only gone on ahead - Bruno, Rex, BoJo, Kendal, Kingsley, Moonpie, Avis, Corndog, Stella, and now Achilles

Got to get the thistle feeder out! Love watching them.
Unfortunately, no other feeders cause it draws the skunks.

I had that happen to the Humming birds. I enjoyed looking after them, I hope they come back.
Most of my winter birds are gone now too. I still have the sparrows and a few finch, cardinals, downy woodpeckers and starlings. I was wondering yesterday if my barn swallows would be back this year and the couple appeared near a bird house a sparrow couple have been working on yesterday afternoon.
