    Cover crop question. (Klebs?)

What do you do when you want to plant veg? Everything I read says not to plow or till. Also, aren't these cover crops crazy invasive?

This year we are going to plant buckwheat in half our garden area. Never tried it before, but our hope is that it will supply some biomass and help suppress weeds. I think the trick with buckwheat is to till it under before it goes to seed. I have a distant memory of Mom and Dad planting buckwheat where they wanted to plant the next year’s garden. Pretty sure Mom’s garden would have been the size of our entire yard. She did a lot of canning and freezing in the summer. We rarely had commercial frozen food, or canned.

Great. OK. Till before it goes to seed. Makes sense. I think I'll do an area with something for the goats. See how it goes.

Stay away from perennial rye for a cover, has a massive root system, very hard to get rid of,
annual rye is fine, others mentioned good ideas here.
