We spent the weekend in Montreal. My wife had never been and I had only been twice. Once in 1989 and in the mid 1990's. We had a great time and the people were so friendly. We did a few tourist things of course. The trip was to see my Washington Capitals play The Habs at The Bell Centre,
We took the Via Rail which is a great and expensive way to travel to Montreal as it lets you off right in heart of the city and you can walk through Underground City to get to many places. It is filled with shops and stores and has an Eaton Centre Mall at one end. The ride was more bumpy than I thought it would have been and for the most part there wasn't much to see along the way.
Friday Night
We headed over the Bell Center to see the Statues and displays while there would be no crowds around. This Rocket Richard display was in the lobby of the hotel we stayed in.
From there we walked to the Bar B Barn. A iconic restaurant that I visited way back in 1989. It hadn't changed a bit. It was like walking into a time warp.
We then strolled up St Catherine's and stopped in at The Peel Pub which was filled with students. It was a little noisy so we only stayed for a couple of beers. We walked back to the hotel through a nice little park and went to the Casino Montreal for the night.
Saturday we went for breakfast at a great place called Reuben’s Deli & Steakhouse. I was really reasonably priced for a big plate of food and it was great. We went into the Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral which is a cale replica of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome.
We toured the Underground City and ended up at an Observation Tower which was on the 45 floor of a building and gives you a 360 of the City. Met a very nice older gentlemen up there who knew where everything was and the history of the City.
Before the game we went to a little place that was recommended for a Poutine of course. The guys working were really good sports as I had an enemy jersey on.
We went back to the Peel Pub as it was next door. They have their brew and I wanted to try it again. A guy in the washroom gave me the gears about wearing an Ovechkin Jersey but I didn't understand what he was saying. Apparently it was funny because a couple of guys were laughing. I took it as good ribbing.
The Bell Centre was fun and since the Habs are out of the playoffs the fans didn't really have much to raze me about. They were all pretty well behaved. The only complaint was that in the 100 Level you had to go out the hall and down an escalator the bathrooms.

I’ve never spent any time in Montreal, just driving through on my way to New Brunswick. Looks like a wonderful place to visit. Guess I need to add it to my list.
Looks like you both had a great time! You're a true Canadian, showing and bragging about the hockey memorabilia, and of course, the beer, lol.
Thanks for sharing!
My sister was in Montreal several years ago and also loved this city. She also took pics of the Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral.
It's cold in the winter time for sure. The summer is really nice with the outdoor patios and cafes. The Port area is nice to visit as well. Lot of fancy yachts and ships to see.
Funny about the beer. Around here and in Vegas fruit flavoured beer seems to be in. When i ordered down there and said I don't want any pineapple or peach beer the servers thought I was crazy for even suggesting such a thing existed.
Taking the train is our preferred way to get to T.O. Montreal is on our list of places to spend a few days.
Looks like you had a great time.

Montreal was already eliminated from the post season and they had a bad season so the fans were a bit deflated when we were there. Otherwise I think the place is rocking for a game. We have been to Ottawa, Toronto, Buffalo and Vegas for games. Vegas was our favourite so far because it's new and because the fans were just that much into the team and the game.
Cool I go to td garden as the bruins play there.i have seen them play any where else. Probabily will be cheaper I bet.
Bruins , Celtics, patriots and redsox all are big ticket item... Its a 1000 game day for family of 4. So we only do a few .
