So we have this BBQ table that was in rough shape. It had faded and rusted and top piece of wood was black with mildew, was cracking and faded. I thought about throwing it away and getting a new one. Then I thought about just replacing the top piece of wood but wood pieces at Home Depot were pretty expensive, even for smaller pieces.
So I sanded and cleaned the existing piece. I stained and sealed the piece with left overs from some stairs that I had replaced. I had a can of rust proof spray paint laying around so I sanded the rust off the best I could and painted the stand.
I should have taken a before picture but didn't think it would turn out. The paint job is far from perfect but for a first go I think I did okay. It's pretty much a newer looking table that I fixed up with stuff I had laying around. If I get a season or two out of it that's worth the hour or two I put into it.

Looks perfect. Always good to repurpose or refurbish!

It's funny how the mind goes to throw something away instead of fix or re purpose it. I have been working on a few things. I can see where people pick up cheap items on kijiji or facebook, fix them up and resell them.
It look great! A little time, a little elbow grease, a little paint. You'll get at least a few years more use.
