    Does anyone weave?

I bought a weaving course off of Groupon. I had a couple of discounts and it was really inexpensive and right down the street. It's my treat for the summer. The course is for novices. It's a rigid heddle weaving course and goes for three classes. The claim is that students can start weaving by the end of the first class. Students get to take a rigid heddle home for practice.

Any advice or suggestions? I have seen automated weaving at a factory/museum and people weaving at one of those role playing historic villages but that's all I know about it.

No advise, sorry. Sounds like an interesting hobby. Would love to hear how it goes.

I've always thought the fabrics were pretty. One of my local yarn shops is doing a demo tomorrow, and the other shop is closing for good and selling their weaving equipment.
I'm just not sure what all one does with 14" wide lengths of woven wool, so if I have time tomorrow, I might stop by and learn a little more.

Runners and placemats? That's what I'll be making.

Wish I could help but I only know ladies who do. My neighbour just started. And my Doctor's wife weaves and makes some of her own clothing out of cloth she weaves. I bet you're thinking caftan type things but she makes dresses you might wear to a professional office. I don't know how she can bear to cut the beautiful stuff she weaves.
