    Happy Victoria Day!

This weekend has been Canadians' long weekend. I hope everyone has had a safe and enjoyable one!

We ran errands on Saturday including going to the library, filling our book bag with books, and checking out a Binge Box of sci-fi movies. Then we kind of chilled before visiting neighbours and sharing stories. We ran back home in a downpour and got wet, had we waited 10 minutes we would have been dry. Yesterday we chilled some more before grilling chicken thighs prepped in a citrus marinade and pork ribs in molasses glaze. Today I washed the deck while Faye planted stuff in the garden before we took a drive. I cleared the land mines (heh heh) and put out clean hummingbird feeders. Now it is time to chill on the deck.

How have y'all spent the weekend?

It sounds like you and Faye were able to mix being productive with some socialization and relaxation. Good for you. Thanks for the recipes, btw!

We'll be enjoying a long weekend this coming weekend with the observance of Memorial Day. We'll get together with our kids and grandkids, we haven't all been together for a while. Although he's not around to observe the holiday any longer, my Dad served in WWII, Army Air Corps. I always think of the photos of him in uniform, looking so, so young. We've had a ton of rain in the past week so hopefully it will be a drier weekend. I'll be trying out a recipe for a red sangria that I saw recently to inaugurate the beginning of the summer season. I'm hoping our family chef will help with the rest of the cooking, although I know it's a nice break for her to let someone else do the cooking.

I played in a 27 hole golf tourney on Saturday. I didn't realize it was on the long weekend when I agreed to go in it or I might not have. It poured rain most of the morning and they put it on hold for an hour and a half. I sat in my car and used the heater to dry my clothes.

Sunday we had a couple of friends over for a bbq. It wasn't too bad but it got cold out in a hurry so most of the night we were indoors.

Yesterday was pretty quiet. I was going to plant my tomatoes etc but still wasn't sure if the mornings are good for it or not. Think I will get that done tomorrow.
    Thanks Everyone!!

Been so darn rainy here been stuck inside doing "fun" stuff like wash. Finally cleared up this afternoon so getting stuff ready to mow. Tomorrow to the garden center for flowers - yeah! Asked the grands what they wanted in the now limited garden area so will pick up a couple of green peppers, oregano and of all things, granddaughter wanted radishes. Kids ask, Nana gets, LOL.

    Apologies for the tardy reply.

smartrock, hope the weekend will be dry. My dad was in the Army Air Corps too! He flew transport planes, carrying cargo and paratroops (to Sicily and Normandy) from 1943 on. Where did your dad serve? I am thinking gin and tonic weather has finally arrived.

Woody, that's a lot of golf. Hope you played well or at least enjoyed the outing other than getting wet.

Fran, it has been very wet your way lately. Have you been able to get stuff in the ground this week?

I have been working a lot lately, and have been really busy. I love how active you and Faye are, always something to do, or explore.

My husband went trout fishing in the eastern Sierra's and brought home four really nice trout, 3 rainbows and a nice brookie. He brought them home and put them in the smoker, so I will probably make a neat green salad with the trout, we had it at a restaurant once. Baby field greens, quartered baby red potatoes, blanched green beans, some red onion, and a nice garlicky dressing. We will grill some nice steaks on Memorial day, I love a charcoal grilled ribeye, Rob like a sirloin, or a New York.

Hubby is working Saturday and Sunday, which will give me time to get the whelping box set up and a final inventory of supplies for a litter due in about 2 weeks.

We did get our garden in last month, but as per usual, we are having a weird spring, hot then cold then cool, then wet, then hot and dry. My poor peppers don't know which side is up, but the tomatoes are doing ok, we'll see about the rest.
