whatever it is, it's pretty. i grow ugly weeds except for the violets a neighbor was kind enough to plant 25 years ago that has spread to my entire front lawn. i make believe i think it's pretty.
a god damn weed that you virtually cant get rid of, as they grow tubers under ground.

I think Rudbeckia too. I have both Black Eyed Susans and Woodland Sunflower and the leaves are quite different. The latter will do better in part shade, can grow much, much taller, over six feet, is a perennial but can become rampant if soil around it is cultivated which will allow it to self seed vigorously. One plant will form a clump nearly a foot in diameter in one season. I bought three plants at a wildflower sale and now I have hundreds. Because they can grow so tall I cut them all off when I see first hints of flower buds forming. Then they send out new branches and I will get more but shorter and later flowers. I love this plant in the right spot. I just moved three to a wild spot on the TCT (Trans Canada Trail) where I hope they will spread as much as in my yard and brighten up the scenery. Oh, they have a yellow centre, not brown. Ièm sure this is not what your flower is but maybe youèd like to get someÉ

If the center is thick and black, then black eyed susan for sure. I remember they grew all over when I lived in NJ.

Whatever it is, it seems to have come from my neighbor's backyard. They have a wildflower garden so I checked it out. I'll ask when they get back from vacation but I do think they are black eyed susans just because the center is so dark.
Pretty flowers. Did a google search and there are many different versions of a black eyed susan.
