    That's a lot of nuts....

So I may posted in the past that a neighbour has been putting peanuts out and has various bird feeders. Our backyard is a hot mess of squirrels, birds, chipmunks, cats, racoons and the occasional hawk. Oh and a chocolate lab of course.

Today I go out after work and beside a chipmunk hole in the ground is a large mess of peanuts, bird seed, sun flower seeds and chest nuts. The photos doesn't really do it justice as I raked it up into a pile. The chipmunk hole itself looks like it was dug out a little bit as there was a fair amount of dirt as well.

I have a security cam but its a bit fuzzy in that area. I can see a squirrel in that area and then a minute later about a dozen birds. Would a squirrel enter a chipmunk hole and pull all of this out with it? I am not really sure what happened here.

    Thanks Everyone!!

I wonder if a fox was digging to get to the chippy and that was just what flew out in the process...

There's always competition in habitats - tunnels, wood piles, trees. Maybe it was a mole taking over.

We are battling a similar problem with neighbors putting out all sorts of stuff for the birds. Problem here, skunks. My daughter just had to hire a critter catcher because of the skunks around her house. Unfortunately, out town does not allow a trap, neuter and release program for feral cats and her neighbors are putting out cat food drawing in the skunks.

Only thing I can suggest is Shake Away fox urine crystals. It's a decent deterrent.

It's quite strange. I covered the hole up and it's open again with nuts and dirt everywhere and a chipmunk sitting a few feet away looking at me.

Do those fox pellets not bother the doggos?
    Thanks Everyone!!
