Please go. Maybe the doctor can prescribe something to reduce your anxiety but it does need to be addressed. I'm sorry.
So I have been putting off going to see a doc but my hip is in bad shape. If I try to walk it starts burning within a few steps. I am really trying to convince myself its time. But fear of surgery stops me from even making the appointment. Im wondering if there is anything else I could try before I go see an ortho.
Please go. Maybe the doctor can prescribe something to reduce your anxiety but it does need to be addressed. I'm sorry.

Yes, please see the Doctor. Our friend was given exercises, tips on how to move etc. to preserve the hip and surrounding tissues and try to postpone surgery for a bit.

I am having a hard time facing a 13th surgery. Im young as far as joints failing are concerned
13! Oh my gosh. Not 13 on your hip? Friend got his new hip at age 45. Doctors didn't want to do it but he'd shrunk about three inches from pain and not being able to move properly. He's pushing 70 years old now, may need another one, same side.

No not n the hip but on my knees and legs are 10 of the 12 I have had.
I would go to see if they have options instead of surgery.

Well, that's a tough row to hoe. I thought 4 knee surgeries was bad. I can see how you would be really tired of the drill.
But you have to consider what the inactivity can do to your body, as well. Immobility is a very bad thing. So put that in your calculus about when to do the deed.
Are you considering getting into some swimming, water aerobics, anything like that? You need to preserve your range of motion and cardiovascular health, but maybe without the weight bearing.
So sorry you are going through this after so many surgeries in the past. Before having my hip replaced the pain was horrible to the point of not moving around much at all and that took it's toll. Was confident in the surgeon and surgery went very well. Up and walking, with a walking, not long after to use the bathroom. My only hiccup was having problems with the pain med, nausea and vomiting. Once that was corrected, rehab and recovery went very well with very little discomfort. In fact, was off pain meds in less than 3 weeks. Doctor did want me to use the cane for a while longer not so much for an aid but so that others were aware and gave me room to move. Sending you prayers.
