Well, good news! My hgb and white count were OK. However, when they checked my BP... I couldn't get my systolic above 85... even laying down. (Dropped to 80 when standing). So they whipped me back to the infusion room and infused two liters of saline... boosting the systolic to 113 sitting down. And you know what? Wow. When you can get blood to your head, you actually do feel a lot better. An amazing thing.

I may have been dehydrated because of Nevada's lovely hot dry air, and Reno's elevation (I live at 5500 feet.) I honestly wasn't thirsty, so from now on I'll have my thermos continually full of iced tea (decaf) and will keep sipping.

Got the buzz cut last night. Sporting the classic Auschwitz look this summer. Ugh. But I will do a bunch of retail therapy and find hats and scarves I like. Thank God for Amazon.

Dehydration sneaks up on you in the dry heat. I attended a golf school in Palm Springs and they had one woman who just kept track of everyone to make sure they were drinking enough. It was crazy how much fluids you lose without even noticing it.

Glad to see they got you fixed up quick. Take good care of yourself and keep your spirits up. Sending prayers for successful chemo with the least side affects.

    Somehow this kinda seems suicidal.

However... I am assured that this is "Evidence Based" practice and people do survive it. And the plan is that the cancer cells don't. I am going in tomorrow for blood work and they'll let me know how I'm doing.

If my hemoglobin is below 7 and/or the platelets below 20 thousand (about a tenth of the normal amount) they'll transfuse me. Oh, goodie.

You gotta have a sense of humor. The standard advice for chemo patients is to not handle dirt or flowers. I haven't read anything about caring for 3 labrador retrievers. Strictly don't ask, don't tell.
    Aye Lass,
I cared for me Lab TRAD the whole time I was undergoing a treacherous course of concurrent radiation and chemo. More importantly, TRAD cared for me in his own special way and kept me spirits from going under.👍

Thanks guys. Had to go in for my complete metabolic panel this morning (they want to make sure my liver and kidneys are holding up OK...) and I asked them to repeat my Hbg because the previous reading could have been artificially high due to my dehydration. They did and my Hbg had gone down to 10.3. Not bad. Plenty to do the job of carrying oxygen around to where it's needed.

I feel perfectly normal. Going to grandson's baseball game tonight. He plays pitcher and catcher. He has a devastating fast ball. So much so that most kids can't catch for him. But he's in All-Stars now and there is a kid who's able to do it. The other night Cash threw the maximum number of pitches Little League allows (85) and of those, 67 were strikes.

So proud. 2 years ago his LL team went to the State finals (and won). He caught for 10 grueling innings in 95 degree heat. Not a pitch went past him. A baseball dad was walking past my daughter and asked who that catcher was. When she said... "that's my son" he shook his head and said... "he's one tough son-of-a-gun."

So GO RENO AMERICANS!!! (They named themselves the "Dirt Bags" but don't ask me why.)

This round of chemo has gone much better. I get tired by which I mean something happens to my eyelids and they sorta drift down over my eyes and my brain turns off and I am forced to take a nap. But the nausea has not been a problem.
