So sorry this is happening to you. Give yourself a little time to have a pity party and then dig in with that amazing attitude you have. YOU WILL WIN!

I'm so sorry--I hope this yucky phase passes quickly, and hopefully your body will adjust better to the chemo. How many treatments do you have left? We are all pulling for you!
By your side.
Sorry to see your struggles. On the opiates, my father was prescribed more than I thought reasonable so I called the oncologist. He informed me that people with "true" pain do not become addicted to them. It is the people who continue to use them when they feel no pain that risk addiction. Not sure if that was just to calm me down or reality. He came off the drugs without a problem mostly for the same reasons as you ... he worried about it.
I'll keep the prayers coming for you! Hope the chemo rounds go more smoothly from here. Take care.

Ditto Jack. While not opiates I am prescribed a pretty heavy duty pain killer for migraines and was told basically the same thing. People DO use it to get a buzz on but for pain, it just works on the pain. There is the risk of taking it in anticipation of pain though, and then becoming dependant. And it's effect can wear off so that stronger yet meds are needed.

Thanks for the good thoughts and mojo. Today the WBC count was up to 4000, and my foot pain is becoming much more tolerable. They plan to reduce the dose of chemo on Monday.

Well... they lowered the dose by 20% and it's gone much better. Still feel crappy for about a week, but now over the second post-dose week, am just somewhat fatigued. My white count, hemoglobin, and platelets are golden. I can't seem to drink enough, however and noticed I was getting short of breath. They checked me out, figured my tank was dry and gave me a liter of saline.
After that... I felt up to taking the dogs to a pond and wearing them out chasing bumpers. It's amazing what you can do when you have enough circulating volume.
Infusion #4 coming up on the 31st and that is GREAT on two counts. First, it's the last dose of the nasty cytoxin/adriamiacin combo. And second, it's the half-way point. All downhill from here.
