Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay out of the smoke. I just read an article on how hydrating herself nearly killed a woman, she needed electrolyte replacement more than she needed water. Something to ask about?

I have never liked to drink straight water. I know it's weird but when I was a kid, I got this notion that drinking water was like drinking spit. So (being a child of the 50's) mom gave me Koolaide. My siblings and I went through gallons of that and somehow grew to adulthood.

The chemo makes everything taste strange. A Pepsi doesn't taste like a Pepsi. Iced tea ditto. Lately the thing that goes down best is a mixture of Sprite and Lemonade. So... I think I'm getting electrolytes of some nature... plus a lot of sugar. I think you have to settle with what works best.

Have you tried Gator Ade? Some of the patients where I work drink Pedialyte & that seems to help them. Sending along more hugs! I'm keeping you in my thoughts & prayers!

My father had a hard time with everything tasting metallic while on chemo. He developed a liking for various hot sauces because they masked it.
I found a new soda that is 50% lemonade 50% ginger ale. It's different. You might give it a try. I think it is Canada Dry.

Last of the cocktail of truly awful drugs is behind me now. Half done. It's been a tough week. One of the side effects of the drugs is outrageous heartburn with reflux. This kinda kicks off my asthma. Then add on the thick smoke blanketing our area from the massive fires in California, just west of us. (God bless those people... and the firefighters!) Yesterday I began coughing and couldn't stop until I retched. Using my rescue inhaler helps some. I resorted to taking small doses of opiates to suppress the cough last night.

Today seems better so I'm crossing my fingers. I have an appetite. I'm drinking more and eating lots of leftovers from the fridge.

The house is too d@mn quiet and I miss the dogs. Maybe by Tuesday I'll be able to go get them from the boarding kennel. However... Rocket Dog will NOT be coming home because she's running her first MASTER at Smith River on the 10th. Wish I could be there. It's a big jump for her.

Each day behind you is another day done. Sorry it's been tough. Wish each of us could take a piece of the side affects and help you. While you have an appetite, EAT!

    Sending you more prayers.

You've had a rough time of it...I sure hope things will improve quickly so that you can feel better and get your dogs back. Having them around will add a big slice of normal to your life again.
