Paclitaxel is supposed to be better tolerated than the drugs I was on for 2 months, but I'm not finding that to be the case. I got hand and foot syndrome again. My fingertips turned bright cherry red and hurt like the dickens. I'm pretty sure I'm going to lose the skin on them. My feet were also affected so my soles may peel off again. At the same time, I got the joint and muscle pain that is a known side-effect of the drug so, boy-howdy, was I ever hobbling around the house.

Saturday evening, not sure what was going on, I had excruciating back pain. It felt like back labor, even coming in waves. I was panting and moaning just like someone in labor. Called the on-call oncologist whose only recommendation was to take 10 mg of Percocet. That's enough to render me comatose, so I was fortunate that after some number of hours, the pain finally broke with only 5 mg.

Sunday went OK though I was exhausted and took a three hour nap. I feel good enough today to go pick up the dogs. We all need to have a break and be together.

That sounds very rough. Im glad you feeling well enough to go get the pups. How long do you have to be on this for and how often. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Oh I am just seeing this thread. I am so sorry you are going through this. I did chemo, radiation and now hormone therapy. This board helped me so much. Everyone is so supportive. Paclitaxel? I had to do that one too for 12 weeks. The two I had before were Adriamycin and Cytoxin. I'm sorry taxel had been rough for you. Chemo is no fun and I feel for you. If you have any questions please PM me and I'll try to answer anything I can. Hang in there. It gets better I promise. I am 4 years out now. Hugs to you.

Here's the good news... only 3 more infusions. ONLY 3 more. I remember when I was facing 8. I mean it sucks, but clearly the finish line is in sight!

Yes, that sounds about right. I get my infusions every 2 weeks. I did 4 infusions of cytoxin and adriamicin and now I have to get 4 of Paclitaxel. So that seems to be the accepted recipe.

Hey, guess what I did! I made the reservations for us to go to Ireland on May 20th of 2019. The trip we had to bag because of my cancer. We'll depart from San Jose and fly to Dublin via Delta Airlines. Hooray!!!
