    Mystery plants.

I have a few mystery plants every year. I use these old labels that we used to do mailings with wrapped around toothpicks to identify my seedlings indoors and sometimes I water the label and the ink washes off.

Most of the time it doesn't matter. I have a general idea of what the plant is if not the specifics. Don't really care what kind of cuke or squash it is.

This year though, I bought a full line of pepper seeds. I've really gotten into peppers and my husband loves the sweet ones. He can't eat the hot ones, at least not a lot. Now I have three mystery peppers. This is of concern. I picked up ghost peppers, habaneros, twilight New Mexicos, birdseyes. This could get bad.

I just told him not to eat the orange sweet peppers - just in case they're actually habaneros. Then I found out that habaneros can be green and red. So I told him to just avoid that whole area and I'll sort it out later.

Who knew that food could be so dangerous!

You’ll have to be his food taster! “Yes, my liege, yon peppers shall be safe for your consumption.”

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

We do that at restaurants. "Is this safe?" is my cue to sample all of his food. I don't mind that

Maybe once you figure it out you can re label them.

Yes. They just have to produce something first. One shot up about a foot in two days so I know it really likes hot humid weather.
