Things you have to do in the dark.

There are certain things I have to do in the dark. Not what you're thinking.

Changing out the fly trap. Anything having to do with maggots really. I am in a world of denial. We had a freezer failure in the basement once and didn't notice it for about a month. This is where I just toss a bunch of diatomaceous earth down in the dead of night and walk away. Can't handle it.

That's my task for the night. Changing out the fly trap. A half gallon of dead flies. So gross.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

My husband uses the fly trap as an example of a feedback loop when he trains. One of our clients came up to him afterward and wanted to know if we had a time lapse video. He kept saying, "I'd really like to see that!" No. Not really. You don't.

Just so everyone knows, we are not filthy people. It's just that flies can smell up to three miles away and we live next to a barn. So between our stuff and theirs, well, it fills up fast.
