Here are a few things I captured recently.
After the wheat harvest, transporting the baled straw.
A Turkey Vulture wheeling and riding the outflow from a nearby thunderstorm.
A stand of Purple coneflowers in one of our front beds.
Sunset blazing through the trees near the treehouse we stayed at.
Our garlic - 45 bulbs worth! - freshly harvested and drying.

Great pics! The coneflowers are so pretty. I noticed that your AC is right by the drying garlic, so does your how smell of garlic now?

They're all beautiful, especially the first one but thank you especially for posting the garlic pic. I'm trying for the first time and didn't know what I was looking for. Do you hang them to dry or just leave them like that?
Mr Kleb (08-03-2018)
There seems to be a very good, thick, heavy cut of wheat and hay this summer. Lots of bales in most fields around us too.
Did you use the garlic scapes? Garlic Scape Pesto is one of the most wonderful recipe discoveries I've made recently.
Great pics.

This is kinda the way I do it:
https://www.garlicfarm.ca/storing-garlic.
I leave it to dry until the leaves have turned brown and dried up. Once that happens I trim it up and sort it. Heads that I want to plant, small or damaged ones to use first and ones that I will use in the winter.
Snowshoe, I didn’t make garlic scape pesto this year, but made pickeled garlic scapes instead. Think there is still some pesto in the freezer.
Black Labbies the house doesn’t smell like garlic. Which actually surprises me.
Our garden isn’t as extensive as previous years. We wanted to let some of it rest for the season and also our neighbour planted some trees quite close to the lot line and now our garden doesn’t get as much sun. Not sure how we will overcome that in the following years.
I'm always charmed by seeing those big round hay bales out in the fields. Somehow I don't get to see the baling process in action, just the bales.

Black Labbies, thank you. I guess Faye answered your question. A garlic smelling house might not be too bad a thing though!
Thanks janedoe. It looks like Faye also answered you. By the way I like your signature photo.
Snowshoe, I hear that this years wheat crop was good. The pesto makes a great pizza base.
smartrock, this field is literally across the road from my workplace yet I missed the baling operation.
