    Trees in pots?

Does anyone grow trees in pots? I ordered a dwarf key lime, dwarf Meyer lemon, a dwarf banana and a dwarf cherry on an end of season sale. I want to put them in pots and keep them indoors for the winter.

I have two kinds of pots. One is a big whiskey barrel style pot that is wide. The other is a more traditional planter that's deep. Deep is better, right?

I'm super excited about this project. In three years I could be picking my own mini-bananas!

How did you grow the avocados? I remember somebody putting a pit in water once. Is that right?

You put toothpicick around half way about 3 of them around the avo and then balance on a jar or glass with water in it narrow side in the water

No...but he eventually got too big for the space I had available and a co-worker took him home. I think he thrived on attention. Perhaps the name I gave him kept him from producing.

Actually, I read somewhere that you get fruit only from grafted trees.

We have an orange tree of some kind in a BIG pot that weighs a couple of hundred pounds. We move it outside each summer, a Big heavy job. It never flowers, let alone fruits. I wish we didn't have it, OH got it from a co-worker who sensibly realized it was getting too big for his house.

I have a mandarin tree and a lemon tree, I had a kumquat years ago but it died unfortunately.

I've picked up quite a few mandarins and a few months ago a new tree started growing from one, so now I have a baby mandarin tree. We'll see if it survives.
