    Antifreeze on driveway.

Started the truck, heard a hesitation like a battery issue, pulled up to the front door thinking we had left the lights on overnight. Went inside to ask my husband if he heard anything weird and came back out to find the truck smoking. Backed it down the driveway and left antifreeze all over the asphalt. Had it towed.

Basically, the alternator went, snapped the belt and something happened to the radiator. It was a domino effect.

I'm reading a lot of things on the internet about cleaning off the driveway (detergent, just spray it down, use TSP) but what eliminates the problem entirely, not just wash it off or get rid of the stain. Obviously, I don't want the dogs getting into it under any circumstances.

We misunderstood. It's transmission fluid. Using the cat litter method.

Apparently, the alternator bearing failed. The mechanic said that if it had happened on the interstate we would have been in real trouble.

I was going to suggest the cat liter method. They actually make spill kits for this type of spill. Cat liter will work just as good. Sorry to hear about the vehicle!

It's back! Our mechanic was so horrified he missed that that I'm convinced he undercharged us. It seemed like just parts to me.
