    Mystery of the day.

Went out to feed everyone and was in for a big surprise. Our chicken coop is now a 10' x 10' x 6' welded wire dog kennel, covered, divided down the middle by two additional panels. It's wrapped in chicken wire that extends four inches on the bottom with barbed wire in the dirt. I had five new but fully grown birds on one side and three older birds on the other.

Today there were four on one side and four on the other. There's bit of a gap at the bottom of the divider where they've been digging for worms but I just couldn't see it. Spent hours thinking about it. Can a fully grown chicken squeeze through three inches? Finally, I looked up. Dang thing must have flown to the top of the divider in the center where's there's a gap with the roof then flew back down into the wrong side.

Oh well. They seem to be getting along and they all look pretty much alike so I'll just let it go. That was messing with me though.

When they want to, chickens can fly short distances very well. Was hoping you weren't posting about a chicken eating critter getting inside.
