    Hurricane Florence

It seems that there's a good possibility of this hurricane landfalling somewhere between about Jacksonville FL and the Virginia capes late this week. I hope that members in that part of the States are paying attention and completing initial preps.

Barry I suspect you are aware.

We are now in Williamsburg, which is on the coast. Luckily we’re not in a flood zone or evacuation area, but people are prepping like crazy. Power goes out pretty easily here, and it can take a while for it to be restored. I have lots of water and prepared foods, so I hope that leads to it missing us.

Yes I've been keeping an eye on this storm. I'm sure the beach areas may take a pounding, but we've been pretty lucky where we are located with the various storms over the years. We are far enough inland it shouldn't be an issue, but you never know.....

kimbersmom I forgot you are there! stay safe.

Barry keep your weather eye open.

Most models suggest it could meander or stall near the coast for several days, like Harvey last year. That could result in unprecedented rainfall on already wet to saturated soil.

We just drove home from the Outer Banks yesterday. Tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. a mandatory evacuation order goes into effect where we stay. We've been there through hurricanes before but when they tell us to get out, we get out. Kimbersmom, we used to evacuate to Williamsburg! Now we go west where we have family. The weather last week was just the best, 7 perfect days for beaching it up. We're really hopeful that property damage is not too severe.

Did you see some predictions have it heading inland inland towards where I used to live, in southwestern Virginia? They’re preparing for 2 feet of rain! And yes, these are the friends who just yesterday said we could evacuate to their house...

Tonight's weather report here has it heading inland, toward the Triangle area of NC, where family lives. Hmmm...

I just checked on my aunt that lives in Harrisonburg, to see if she was leavin or staying.

I am so happy that the weater channel people have been telling people to take their pets with them and make sure that they are storing up provisions not only for themselves but for their animals too. The people have had plenty of warning so they should have been able to get their live stock out too.
