    Sewing class was hilarious!

It was clear to me that I was never going to learn to sew from the video class. It was a good $25 spent because there's a wealth of information about material, tools, etc and I'm sure I'll be able to better understand the techniques after some experience but I definitely need some hands on experience.

Signed up with the local vocational school for a six week course (12 - 15 hours). Fifteen women. None of us have a clue. Dumb as dirt. We're talking about how to thread a needle. It took a half hour for all of us to figure out the most basic stitches.

The poor instructor. She and her husband own a business but I think this is maybe the second time she's done this class and this one is clearly larger than her last one. She's trying to get the powers that be to extend the class by a half hour each week.

We all had a ton of fun but we are complete idiots. It's so funny! We all got it all eventually though so there's hope. Gotta get those custom curtains done . . .

Oh my, you brought back a memory. I sew a fair bit and took a university course, where, of all things, my neighbour from the apartment above showed up. My male neighbour. Lucky for him he lived near me as we had homework and he was at my place every day it was assigned, to get more detail on what to do. "The eye of the needle, that's the hole, right?" No kidding, he actually said that and I looked hard at him to see if he was joking and I really didn't think he was. We had two fellows in our class and it was fun in an early class when we partnered up to measure each other. "Can I do this at home myself?" said one, "I don't wear underwear."

Did you ever find out what his logic was?

Her greatest (and very sincere) praise was after about an hour when she said to one woman, "You've already threaded your needle! That's great!"

At one point she said, "It's very quiet in here." I responded, "We're trying not to stab ourselves."

Sundance got it, we had to get down to our gotchies to measure and he wasn't wearing any. The Prof. measured him.

WE did have a very interesting outcome on measuring one girl. She was uneven in height from shoulder to waist and waist to hip on her two sides. She was having back pain and told her Dr. about the measuring. VEry mild spina bifida. Likely she would simply have been prescribed painkillers. As it was she was told certain activities to avoid and steps to help her back and the measuring very likely helped with an early diagnosis and prevented further damage to her.

Pretty sure that if we had to strip down, very few of us would have been there.

Very interesting with the person in your class Snowshoe. I have a relative who can be diagnosed in a similar way.
