    Moving

Not me but my daughter. She had no choice, the schools here are horrible. The teachers are so hog-tied and do nothing. The bulling is off the charts. The middle school is on soft lock down always, police there daily, fights daily.

She found a really nice house about 30 minutes away, 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, living room, rec room and a TV room which she is making into a kids play room, 2 car garage, shed, nice kitchen and dining area. It's much more room for them to move around and a nice fenced in yard for the dog. It was kind of spur of the moment thing so she had nothing packed, NOTHING. Between her, DH and myself we moved everything from her old house, three bedrooms, 2 1/2 car garage, shed, on and on. It's been hard since she and DH do not often have days off at the same time so sometimes it was me and her and others just DH and myself and a U-Haul truck. First days were 90 degrees, 90% humidity. I pushed too hard, ended up dehydrated, vomiting, in bad shape. Took several days to recuperate. But now it's done, over with. I am so convinced I am never going to move looking at the 30+ years of accumulation we have, LOL. She has quite a way to go to get everything unboxed and put away but the important stuff is in place - kitchen, bedrooms, living room and the kids play room. She's on a cul-de-sac and just across from it is granddaughter's school, just down the road grandson's school.

While all of this was going on I was trying to keep things going here at home, meals, wash, cleaning, and especially keeping Katie happy. Yesterday we treated ourselves to a "spa" day, I got a haircut, long overdue, and Katie got her nails trimmed. She is absolutely loving her new expanded play area. My gardens have suffered but I'll catch up. For now it's going to bed knowing I don't have to be up at 6am and piling in a truck. Sure am getting mileage on my bionic hip.

Moving is the worst! I told DH next time, we should demand the buyers keep the contents of the house and we can just start fresh! He doesn’t think that would work, lol. Your daughter is very lucky you and your husband could help her. You and Katie deserve multiple spa days.

I hate moving. I think that's the biggest reason we decided to stay here.

Good for your daughter and that's so nice of you to help! Glad they're in a better space and school system. So stressful to be in a bad one. When I was in high school, they closed down one across town and it started a gang war at ours. Fenced in the school, trash cans on fire, security guards, students trying to throw each other over railings. Just too hard to learn under those conditions.

How is your back? Glad she found a new place. New people are moving in across the street from us, for much the same reasons, bad location in their previous home for their son. They will both have longer drives to work in a climate that can have very snowy roads in winter.

That happened here too, two high schools combined. Now they have 9th and 10th grade in one and 11th and 12th in the other. Hasn't helped at all.

Back is doing pretty good although DH and daughter would not let me lift at all. At least I can sit in comfort now. Thanks for asking.

Oh gosh, what a job! I'm afraid I put my own mother through a move with nothing packed but fortunately for her, it was when I finished college and my room was a former nun's quarters so it was too tiny to pack much into. I'm sure they really appreciated the hard work and your bout with dehydration really drove that point home, not that you wanted it to happen. My husband once remarked during a move that we'd never move again, even if we got a divorce we'd just divide the house down the middle. Of course, that was about 6 moves ago. I'd think your Christmas train village would need its own moving van!

I'm glad it's finished and you and Katie enjoyed a well-deserved spa day. Good wishes to your daughter and her kids in their new digs!

Since the Christmas Village has it's own zip code (LOL), it would indeed need it's own van.
