    Mojo please.

My husband just went in for jury duty. He got an e-mail last night and I know for a fact that the instructions he was given mean that he's being considered for a grand jury.

This would be a three month stint in a building that does not have adequate accommodations for his condition. It could be absolutely disastrous for us.

    Please send some mojo.

If it does turn out to be a grand jury, couldn't his physician offer documentation that he cannot participate in that building for that length of time because of his medical condition? Wouldn't there be some ADA backup for that?

What smartrock said...that would go for Maryland, at least...don't know why Mass. would be any different.

I will be on that like a fly on whatever. They better not take him. I know that building, instructions and format inside and out. He just can't do it. His doc will provide whatever they need it necessary but this is really stressful.

Yes, you can be excused for medical conditions. It's one of the first questions they ask when you arrive. Last time I was called, they pulled a few people before the judge in the very beginning and all of them left the building right after.

Like others have said you can be excused for medical conditions. My Dr actually wrote a permanent letter to the courts.I have no received a jury duty since

They sent him home. No interview. They had too many people. We'll get a doctor's note in advance next time.

    Thank you all!

I see your worry is over now, that's good. My OH was notified twice in the last couple of years but each time the case was settled out of court and he never had to go, not even to the interview for the selection process.

I am jury queen. They pick me every single time. I've spent probably 16 weeks total on them which means I know that building well. The chairs are fine but they do a terrible job maintaining the sidewalk in the winter. It's also at the top of the hill and the parking garage is at the bottom. There was no way he could have done that in freezing weather. I feel bad about it because I was thinking that he'd be fine in September and it probably would settle before he got there or it would be a one day thing but as soon as we heard the instructions I knew exactly what it was. Sure enough, he brought home the ticket and I was right. Close call.

Glad it worked out. In my county you can contact them after you get the summons about special accommodations, medical excuses or conflicts that cannot be rescheduled.
