Thumbs up Bill Gates is so kind.....

What a guy. Leaving me all that money even though he is dealing with health issues and having to go to Germany for treatment and all.

      Thanks Everyone!!

LOL, Scammers just keep throwing out the Bill Gates thing. They have for years. What is getting people though is the scam phone calls, I have had numerous people ask me about them where they get phone call saying This is Microsoft and their windows license is invalid. They need to purchase a new license immediately or their computer will cease to work. People are actually falling for that one.

Huh. I would have thought his command of the English language/grammar would have been better...

Perhaps you can suggest that he use some of his own money to further his education in this area.

The latest scam in Canada is fake phone calls from Revenue Canada saying you owe x number of dollars or you will go to jail.

Three people ranging from in their 20's to 50's actually deposited money into a bit coin machine to pay the fines which were thousands of dollars.

Now I have had three of those calls and they are 100% unbelievable in their accents and information etc. I can't believe that somebody would fall for it.

Yep. And I got one a while back from our IRS about the same thing...with an ID in Canada. Ohhhhhkaaaaayyyyyyy.

I have to wonder if most of the people who fall for these kinds of things either aren't that familiar with the country in which they are living or have passed the threshold of mental waning. As you say, the callers (or emailers) just don't "sound" right to begin with.

I got an email about a month ago with the subject line warning to delete after reading. So I Googled and found the scam. It was along the lines of having been hacked (a RAT installed on my computer) and my monitor camera automatically turned on and created a video of what I was doing....mostly when I visited porn sites...."unspeakable acts". The videos would be sent to EVERYONE I know unless I paid however much by whatever date. It was apparently generated to email addresses provided in a hack on Adobe or (several other sites that weren't even familiar to me) and sent regardless of whether or not you had a monitor camera, looked at porn, etc. But the Google site I'd found said it had gotten a good number of replies. Oh good grief....

That letter is so funny. The writer's use of language is so odd you'd wonder how anyone would fall for it. Poor Bill Gates, maybe his illness affects his ability to speak or write clearly. I wonder how going to Germany would help that.

My Mom, who is in her late 80s has gotten those IRS calls- she slams the phone down like they're going to pop right out of the receiver and nab her for her alleged delinquency. Someone called her one day and said they were her granddaughter/my niece, by name. She said she was out of state at a wedding and got arrested for drunk driving and was in jail, would my mother send her money to get out of jail? My mother thought the voice sounded right but she believed my niece doesn't drink. So she started asking her questions such as, what is your brother's name? Response, "Oh grandma, you know what his name is!" It had to be someone who knew my niece and her relationship to my Mom. For some reason my mother didn't really wonder why she hadn't called her parents instead.
