Aye Mates
Gear deployed with talons swinging freely and ready to strike, near silent wings guide this Red-Tailed Hawk to engage a small prey animal in the crosshairs. A swift death ensues from above. Such is the drama of the struggle for day to day survival in the natural world.

Mike, your timing is superb!! A gorgeous bird it is indeed.

At this time of year I often see one, or two perched on hydro lines along the road.
Striking how except for its tail, the colouration blends well with the background.

Great picture!
We have had a hawk occasionally, more so back when the bird feeders were out. Have seen lots of chipmunks this year so, as in the past, expect to see the hawks again. They sometimes sit on the deck railing just waiting but I never have a camera ready.
