    Mueller suggestions?

My husband bought me a Mueller pressure cooker. I don't have it yet. It looks good online, people love it and I like the recipes I'm seeing, especially for dried bean dishes which I hate as a general rule because of the prep time. However, I am terrified of pressure cookers. Had one many years ago and didn't even try it.

Are there any tricks I should know about? The ratings are so good. I don't want it to collect dust.

Is that an electric pressure cooker like the instant pot? If so, hard boiled fresh eggs! They come out super easy to peel.

It could be a metaphor. On the other hand, he really did get this for me even though I was looking at a Ninja Foodi.

I've done beans, so maybe something like red beans with rice? You can do a pot roast/beef stew in no time.

I was looking at red beans and rice. I'll definitely take a look at pot roast. Never been successful with pot roast. No idea what I'm doing wrong. I've even asked the butchers to pick out meat for me in case that what it. So frustrating. My husband will eat it but it's just not to my liking at all.

From my understanding the newer pressure cookers are foolproof so you don't end up with a pot exploding and spewing food all over. I was never brave enough or had the patience to try a manual one since you need to keep an eye on it and control the heat. I have no fear with my Instapot which I believe would be similar since they are both electric.

I just Google recipes and try different things. Hard boiled eggs come out great. They take about the same time as on the stove but seem so much easier. I also love the fact I can cook frozen chicken breasts (I'm sure other meat too but haven't tried) since I have a habit of not defrosting. My simple go to is to cut up a bunch of chicken breast when it is on sale for 5 lbs or more and use chicken stock in the box for the liquid. Chicken breast usually dries out when cooking but this remains moist. Some gets used for sandwiches, others get packaged in zip loc bags and refrozen to be used later. I also use the broth and some of the chicken for soup. Another easy thing is to toss some kind of simmer sauce (I usually get mine at Trader Joe's or Aldi) in with chicken breasts. The sauces say to use them on the stove, but I think pressure cooking infuses the flavor more.

My hints are: You need liquid. If you have a rack, that works so you can cook something like chicken and not have it poach. A lot of crock pot recipes can easily be adapted. Unless you are cooking something that usually takes a long time, it may not save time since the pot takes awhile to come to pressure...then that's when the recipe cooking countdown times begin.

Very nice. Thank you. I love the frozen meat suggestion.
