She is letting them know they in here territory I guess
We are experiencing record lows and dropped 30 degrees F in a matter of hours. Knew it was going to happen so I set up the chicken condos (stacked dog kennels). I'm OK with the temp in single digits for a couple of hours but I hate the steep drops and steady lows. It's too hard on them.
Set everything up, got the birds in, brought their water dishes down and there's this sound like nothing I've ever heard. It's like a charging rhinoceros but there's not a rhino in my basement. Turns out it's our very sweet Henley who lives in our basement at night and outside or in our living room (crated) during the day. Henley is completely PO'd. These are the birds who rejected her and she's not having any of it! Good thing it's a holiday or that would sound really weird during a conference call.

Yeah, all of a sudden those mean girl hens think they’re going to get all cozy in the space Henley has to call home because they were relentless in their trash talking and rude behavior. She’s going to be sure they know who has the upper wing now!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Sounds to me like a hen who needs to be placated with a new pair of pants or a nice cozy sweater.
