    Favorite kitchen gadget.

We recently bought a toaster oven / airfryer and a 10 in 1 machine which includes a pressure cooker. We love them both. My favorite kitchen gadget of all time though is the immersion blender. Hauling the huge blender in and out of the cupboard then washing it was the biggest pain in the backside not to mention the cooling time for soups then reheating them.

Am I missing anything? What are your favorite kitchen gadgets / small appliances?

My favorite kitchen gadget is the good old fashion hand mixer. I actually have a beautiful kitchen aid stand up mixer with all the attachments, but I'm always reaching for the hand mixer instead.
I find it easier to use and simple!

Oh dear! I told my spousal unit several years ago to stop buying me every new kitchen gadget that came on the market because I just don't have room to store all these things that I only use once or twice a year. I don't have an immersion blender, sous vide thing, multipot, or a variety of other items. I do have a food processor, blender, stand mixer, and waffle iron that mostly live in the cabinet.

I guess the types of meals I prepare don't lend themselves to frequent use of those items. I don't make breads, cakes, pies, cookies, waffles or pancakes except on rare occasions, which is when the mixer or food processor would get a work out. My husband does not consider soup to be a meal. It can precede a meal but a full meal must follow. Plus, the soups we tend to prefer don't get blenderized. Boiled down, the items in my kitchen that get the most use are my santuko knife, a 12" cast iron pan and a large sheet pan. I know, kind of boring.

Not a big gadget guy, I find simplicity is sometimes the best. My biggest gripe when I was working as a chef was dull knifes. Can't tolerate a dull knife. I have two Santuko knifes that I use 98% of the time, and an 8" chefs knife that I use now and then. I have all my knives professionally sharpened 2x a year. I used to do it myself, but it's just easier to drop them off at the fabric store.

I do have a small food processor which sits on the counter, and it's the only appliance that sits on the counter other than the toaster, as I use it quite a lot.

I have two Danish dough whisks that I use a lot. The smaller one for mixing up “Artisan Bread in Five Minute” doughs, plus cookie doughs. The larger one is used for mixing together ingredients for meatballs and meatloaf. I also prefer my hand mixer to the stand mixer I have. But, I don’t have a fancy Kitchenaide one, just my Mom’s Kenmore, that’s probably close to 40 years old. We also use a two quart slow cooker almost everyday in the winter to make oatmeal.

Those look pretty cool! I had to look them up because I'd never heard of one. That's the kind of gadget I like, it doesn't take up that much room!

The best gadget we love is the Presto Tater twister which was originally bought as a gag gift but turned out to be a really cool way to serve potatoes. It'll spiral cut the whole potato nicely. We'll throw them in a baking pan with some oil, seasoning and throw cheese on at the end. Quite the conversation at parties.
