Unfortunately my mothers entire identity is her work and other peoples work. It led to a lot of denial and arguments when my health declined and I had to stop working. It was as if I had zero value to her. Really sad. I realize that she was wrong and honestly my life has never been richer and of more value than it is now. For sure I know my mom does not see it that way.

I'll admit much of my identity is my work life but I run my own consulting business so.... but my orchard/ warehouse clients (who are worth a hell of alot more than I'll ever be!) have to put up w/ all my dog stories too. So is that balance or what???
But really, it sounds like the gal is grasping. She needs validation for whatever reason. Sounds like someone I know who actually has a lot of anxiety type issues.
    You can't reason w/ such.

I'm sorry about that. It really is her loss.
