I will *NOT* be googling snake photos...
Juveniles and Sub-Adults have gorgeous patterns - mature adults are black.

Okay, then what about the little black ones we have found in the yard (and in my dining room!!)? Are the little black ones, NOT the ones who grow up to be the big, solid black ones who have a smorgusbourg in the driveway and then climb up into the back of my SUV to snooze and poop?

    (I'm actually being serious.)

For anyone that doesn't mind snakes, try googling Narcisse Snake Pits in Manitoba. I put in one link to it in case people are interested.

I'm not afraid of the local non-poisonous snakes, they just startle me when they slither out. Not sure how I'd feel if we lived in an area that was prone to poisonous snakes. Only one in this area is the Massasauga rattlesnake and they are very rare.

That could have been a black racer or black king snake. Sometimes they're black as juveniles, but not always. They're good to have around for vermin control.

(I have snakes too, though not those species)

I'm the same way. I'm fine with moving them but I do not like surprises. I probably would have knocked the grill over and had a propane explosion.

Sorry but I hate snakes-we have rattle snakes and the dogs do get the vaccinations, Chief got bit one year and the poor baby had a swollen head for days..the Evet bill was no fun either.

I had my hubby look at the pic, and he thinks it's a juvenile black rat snake.

I've only seen a couple snakes here this year. One was a young adult sidewinder and the other a baby one.
