      A little warning please.

Our doctor decided to become a pediatrician. We found out when we called our insurance company to select our Primary Care Providers for the year. My husband has been with him for 14 years. Lovely. No letter. Nothing. Thanks, dude. Never liked you anyway.

(laughing) Did he tell his patients?

Wow. He should have notified his patients or even better, phased into it while current patients...at least the long term ones. Hopefully you can find a new one you like.

      Just a thought.

How long ago did he stop his practice and did he sell it to another doctor?

When my husband retired/sold his practice, the lawyer for the buyers put something in the contract that Bob wasn't allowed to send out notifications until close to settlement date (I guess to keep patients from deciding to leave without giving the new dentists a chance). He'd planned on giving his patients at least several months' notice and was restricted to less than a month. He mentioned it, though, at appointments...they didn't say he had to keep his mouth shut.

Any chance a letter might still be arriving?

He's in a practice with five other doctors and he didn't leave. I do understand what you're saying though. Our former vet went through the same thing.

We got a cell message after hours. The insurance person from the office sounded really panicky. It sounds like the doctor relisted his credentials for the year without realizing that he couldn't keep existing patients. He was treating entire families. He may have lost his patient base. We'll find out next week.

That was rude not letting his patients know. Maybe, like you mentioned, he was not aware of the ramifications of all that he did.

Once worked with a radiologist, best person ever. He was quite a short man. He started in pediatrics and his wife claimed he changed specialty when his patients got taller than he was.
