    Surveyors are objective.

This whole thing about our surveys on our property really rubbed our neighbors the wrong way. He was constantly trying to negotiate property lines with me and she would tell me that her husband knew where everything was as if I was an idiot and should just take his word for it. At one point, he said that he was going to get his own survey done to prove that he was right.

Finally, they did one on our property line. This was last week. I had put a ton of stakes in the field after this latest round of them destroying our pollinator garden. Took a look at their surveyors marks (they used ribbons). They were exactly the same in the field. Exactly. And at the top of the hill, it looks like all of the trees are on our property. That wasn't really an issue before because she likes those trees and was adamant about us leaving them alone but I'm thrilled because some of them have to come down since they are too big and crowded and could fall on our house if their root systems get compromised.

Guess somebody should have told the guy that surveyors are objective.

When the initial survey was done on the lot we bought, which the seller saw for the first time at closing, she did not like at all. She wanted us to hold off on putting up a fence because she was going to get her own done. Second one, a day before fence went up, exactly the same. She was not a happy camper. Geez, think she would have had the initial survey done before closing so she could see what she was selling? Comes within 6 inches of her driveway instead of the 8 feet she thought.

That's significant. I hope the new neighbors didn't give you grief over that. It was probably sold to them with the understanding that they owned that just because the seller said as much.

Our neighbors didn't even have anything to lose. Our land is nowhere near any of their structures. It was just some kind of power play as far as I can tell. I need to take pictures but there are no real landmarks so I'll have to figure out how to put the photos in context.

Her one and only nibble on the house was when it included the lot. Not now. The older lady who owned the house before her was a hoarder and she did not change a thing. One day asked her about the house sale was going and she commented that it was coming off the market because "apparently buyers want to see the walls". Since then she has had HVAC people out, electricians, all sorts of workers. The house finally went back on the market a few days ago. Can't even imagine what it looks like inside.
