A Friday night dinner. Home made pizza crust topped with pesto, smoked chicken, bell pepper, fresh mushrooms, and mozzarella.

A Pine Siskin at the nyger feeder. After having very few feeder visitors through December and the first half of January, winters' arrival has put intense pressure on the songbirds. I may go through the 25# bag of nyger quite quickly.

I also feed the birds at work, which this Cooper's Hawk has caught on to. I shot this from my desk about 25 feet away through two windows as it was silhouetted against the brightening morning sky; I was clearly visible to the hawk and didn't want to startle it away by moving to a better location.

Sunrise on a cold winter morning.

Moonset the same morning. Do you see the rabbit in the moon?

Pizza looks awesome! Do you grill it on a pizza stone?

bmathers, thanks for the question! We do use a pizza stone. The pizza goes on a perforated pizza pan which sits directly on the stone.

Fun with the new camera. Nice detail on the Pine Siskin. I think I might see a rabbit but I think I see Edvard Munch's The Scream too. Or else a skull.

Gorgeous pictures. Back when we fed the birds, before the skunks discovered the discarded seeds, we would occasionally have a hawk drop by and perch on the deck railing. He was quite bold.

Snowshoe, fun indeed! I’ve never had Pine Siskins visit before. Had never seen the rabbit before it was pointed out. The Scream, LOL.

    Jollymolly, thanks!

bmathers, oven at this time of year. (We like warming up the kitchen.) Uh, 475 I think (drawing a blank at the moment.) for around 18 minutes. Have done it on the grill and don’t use a pizza stone then.

Thanks Fran! Fortunately skunks are not a problem. A raccoon lurked in the neighbours’ backyard several weeks ago, haven’t seen it since.
