      Banded gull

      Aye Mates,

I captured this image today on the Connecticut River of a gull with a leg band. First banded gull I have seen.

Looks like he's rather proud to be having his picture taken.

Do you report simply seeing it? Or do you have to catch it and read the band number? We've joined a local nature group whose main interest seems to be birding. I had no idea how many different kinds of gulls there are.

Little gained without being able to read the numbering on the band.
