    Physical therapy update (vent)

I ended physical therapy his morning because it is not going anywhere. My outrage the PT attempted to make my range of motion greater than it was, I can't begin to tell you how angry I was. She proceeded to mark my ROM on my left knee at 95 degrees. I know my body well far too well. I drove back 5 within five min and told her there is no way my knee is at 95 degrees. Asked what she was trying to achieve by falsifying my record to the DR. I am aware this Dr sends a lot of clients her way. She re measured and low and behold I was not at 95 degrees. I guess if he wants me to continue with Physical therapy he will have to give me another prescription.

My thoughts are that she was trying to show a much larger improvement than there is. I was measured yesterday and I was at 80 degrees. I asked how there could be a 15 degree difference in one day.

    2. That she is trying to impress the Dr.

    3. That by showing such improvement it minimizes my claims because this is a failed knee replacement.

I had varying levels of success with different PT's the last 4 years. I would agree a few seemed to just be going through the motions (no pun intended) while others were very professional and had my best interest at the forefront. I would have to say the owner operated practices tended to be better than the chain locations and I had more success at the former. Although I currently seeing a therapist at a national chain for my lower back issues and she's really good.

If I were you I'd ask for a referral to an independent PT who you choose, not your doctor, and get them to document your issues.

I'm sorry it's not working. You've been through the mill, it's good you are looking out for yourself and caught this.

It's a shame that you had to call her on this. Sounds suspicious.

I had an awesome PT after hip replacement. My recovery was going so well I told her to do more and she flat out told me I was not ready and not to ruin a good thing.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I think they're trying to skimp on care.

DH had a pretty horrific experience with a PT last year as well. Guy wanted to cut him off because he had worked with people with MS before. My husband doesn't have anything remotely related to MS. The depth of ignorance was staggering. All he had to do was an internet search on my husband's condition. But he dug in his heels and could have seriously compromised my husband's care. I was furious.
