I have my first private client

She has a 5 month old Standard poodle. I don't want to under price myself but I was planning on charging $60 an hour. I know that is considered cheap around here. So was looking for some input if I should charge more. She lives close so wanted to give her options of meeting twice a week for 30 min and buying a 6 session package any input would be great

I have no idea what the going rate for one-on-one training is around here nowadays, but the trainer I used for Danny's classes charged $60 an hour back in 2008 (I'd looked him up for Baffle and the hour he spent on the phone with me was gratis...so nice...so I went to his class to socialize Dan). I don't know how much longer he charged that. He was a "regular" trainer, not a behaviorist.

    Good luck!

I tried to look up a few people who said they offer private classes around here. One said it's $175 per 90 minute session but you would probably only need one session total. Another said it's $85 for 60 minutes or 4 one hour sessions for $300. One said it would be around $600 for a 2-3 hour single session but then you're "a member for life", whatever that means. Some did not give pricing online. A few said that in addition to the one-on-one classes, the people could have unlimited phone consults, I guess if they paid for the classes and needed some follow up.

You can always adjust your pricing after your first client or 2. I hope it goes well!

I have 5 years of dog training in manners and service dog assistant trainer. This is a manners client. She wants to work on loose leash walking and no jumping mainly. She was happy with the price. I m the type of person that just loves to work with dogs so I give it away for free a lot I work one on one a lot but usually its volunteer training

I paid 60 an hour but she stayed for close to 2 hours. This trainer started training gigi in groups from 12 weeks and knew her from 5 previous group training sessions each was 6 classes. We had to go private when gigi got excited and mouthy self grabbed a neighbor who was trying to pet her 2 yrs ago. She gave us great pointers and i think we have so many parties and get together that gigi is offleash and never had a issue after she matured out of the nutty phase . We do watch her!

Another neighbour got a rejected K9 dutch Shepard that likes to bite and crazy. The cop who was training her gave it to them for free. The trainer i use charged 90 per class as the dog was a serious bite candidate. On superbowl party a few weeks ago some yelled when a field goal was kicked and dog bit him and then when the owner tried to hold her. Bit him hard and he was bleeding bad. I hated as there were 12 kids running around in that house with that dog barking when ever some one makes noise.

    Usually i see 100-150
If you are getting a specialist 300-400
here in the great new england area.

I've never paid a manners trainer. Private lessons with competition trainers are a bit less since basically you train with them very regularly and it's more about quantity, unless it's a special trainer (like a national person).
