I've come to the conclusion that anything worth while is expensive I took up bee keeping after a neighbor gave me all the details of their plight. Now I have 6 hives and all of the assorted paraphernalia - bee suits, tools, feeders. The only saving grace has been that I spent a fortune on a professional honey extraction machine but was able to sell enough honey to make that back in 1 year.

I also took up Trap Shooting when I started training Cassie for field trials. Well she tore the MCL and we have brought her training down considerably. It just wasn't worth risking further injury by pushing her too hard. She still "trains" but we do it at my pace for pure fun. The shot gun shooting has become a nice past time but that's not inexpensive either. Of course I didn't go for the entry level shot gun. As my father used to tell me "Go Big or Go home." I figure so long as you can afford the hobby, enjoy it because tomorrow is never guaranteed.

I'm like Bubba's mom - more outdoor activities! Although cost is not as much a limiting factor as time. I live in an outdoor paradise and could pick up pretty much any outdoor sport I wanted, so I try to limit it to a few that I really enjoy. I tried mountain biking last year and really enjoyed it, until I looked up the demo bike I was riding and found out it was $8000. So that plan went out the door.

I always said i'd never downhill ski since I didn't want to pay that kind of money to be in the mountains. After all, hiking/snowshoeing/etc is practically free! But my local mountain has such a great beginner (adult) program that I signed up this year. I thought that $200 was a great investment to see if I even would enjoy it. It included 5 days of lessons and lift tickets plus rentals. And once you 'graduate' you get a 12 day pass to use the rest of this season. What a deal! Turns out I really like it and am totally hooked. Oops. In fact, I'm taking today off of work to head up to the mountain and try some demo skis. It snowed 10" last night. So now another ~$1000 of ski gear, next year's season pass (another ~$1000 per season), and other costs.

What would you take up if it wasn't so expensive to get into?
Have you ever checked MaxSold.com to see what cards come up for auction? I've seen a bunch listed through antique-type stores in the Kingston area and the winning price is usually just a few dollars.

You don't have to spend $8k to get a decent mountain bike, there are a lot of good choices in the $1500-$3k range. Cheap Mountain Bikes 2019 | Best Mountain Bikes Under $1,000

I, very fortunately, get to do mine which is high performance driving on track. Love it. VERY expensive hobby. Now, at this level, we can afford it just fine. Once we wreck something or do major upgrades to the red GT, known affectionately as No. 2, things are going to get pricey. We got No.2 so I wouldn't beating on No. 1 so much. Car only has 10k miles on it and about half are on track miles or going to the track miles.

Here's No.2 on the track this past weekend. Super FUN car.

No. 1 on track last November.

We're driving the Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway in April for the opening of the National Mustang Owner's Museum and National Mustang Day. I've driven it before in a NASCAR and No. 1. April will be the first time for No. 2. Weeee!

I'd go on a roadtrip. I love travelling.

And photography. I do have a decent camera and lenses but you can always get some more.
