    Whatcha planting?

After a couple of years of experimentation, we landed on what we actually eat.

    Zucchini, including round (so good!)
    San Marzano tomatoes
    Some classic tomato
    Tomatillos (a lot)
    Jalapenos and Poblanos
    Sweet peppers
    Greens
Lots of herbs but that's kind of all the time
    Butternut and Acorn squash
Artichokes partly because they have really amazing flowers
    Cucumbers but not many
    Broccoli

Turns out we're not really root vegetable people. Maybe some carrots.

The experimenting was very interesting. Maybe I'll land on something else I want to try but we found out that we don't really eat a lot of eggplant or summer squash or green beans. Our tastes just kind of changed over the years.

I find the tense of your question confounding. Planting, as in, you are planting right now? LOL, we just started into winter, finally getting some decent snow coverage. I'd better get my garden going though, thanks for the prod. One thing I'd really like to try, despite not having a season long enough for them, is purple fleshed sweet potatoes. A plant in Ontario sells seedlings but they were all gone by the time I found out about them last year. Strangely, they are not in any warmer a zone than me, I think.

I start everything indoors not just because of the growing season but because our wildlife population is just insane. They'll eat any small plant. I absolutely can't grow peas either. They just eat the entire plant, no matter how mature it is. I think I'm going with some container gardening this year which is nuts because we have so much property but I can't seem to get past certain issues. Love having the "instant" garden when I go to transplant tomatoes, peppers, etc.
