Oof. Our vet was very explicit with us about where and where not to bring Stormy when she was young. It’s hard, but safety first!
I usually warn new puppy owners to not take there pups out in public until all their shots are done. I believe most breeders do too. Yesterday while I was at the park with Molly there was a guy walking around an 8 week old labradoodle. I just stayed as far away from them as possible. Several years ago I went to the dog park with one of my dogs and another pet owner thought it was sooo cute to bring there 8 week old puppy. Ended out they lost their puppy to Parvo a few weeks later. It just upsets me to see this.

i lived downtown for years, there were regularly babies in dog parks that shouldn't have been there.
and yes health issues are one concern but that also is a terrible way to socialize a puppy. the experiences were often negative for the puppy who was hounded by crowds of dogs. socialisation need to be slow and the experience positive to the puppy.
socialization is not well understood by the masses. too many go to the extremes of "all the way let's get out there to the dog parks and busy places right away" to "dog can't leave the house or it will die". and few understand the subtlety that exposure is not socialization. the exposure must be a non event (neutral) or positive. (and again not just from a health perspective or injury perspective but mentally).

Oban's puppy friend's owner was an anti-vaccer. Her kids weren't vaccinated for anything either. I was amazed they were allowed to go to school but all she had to do was sign some kind of a form.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”
