    Smoky mountains

Does anyone know anything about staying in the smoky mountains? Thinking of a trip there later this year for a family reunion and looking to rent a cabin with spectacular views of the smokies and privacy. We don’t want to be in a cabin with other cabins in close proximity. We’d also like to be close enough to drive into a town within 30 or 45 minutes for nice lunches, dinners, window shopping.

Having never been there, we don’t know where to start in terms of the best towns. Any and all help appreciated!

Although it's been over 10 years since we've been up there we like the Bryson City area. If my memory serves me correctly we stayed in a cabin in the Franklin area on Whisper mountain which had lots of room. You might want to check the VROB sights for cabins.
Depending on what y'all like to do there's lots of thighs to do around there from taking a ride on the Smokie Mountain railroad in Bryson to panning for Gems in one of the mines around the Bryson area. If you like walking in nature the Deep Creel National Park was nice and you cant forget to take US-441 from Cherokee to Gatlinburg lots of places to stop and look/hike. There's also a Winery as well as lots of small shops the antiques.
Here's a few links of things to do up there:

We just went in February- we stayed in Black Mountain, not far from Asheville. We loved it so much! We took our teens and the two younger dogs and had so much fun. We hiked to waterfalls, climbed Chimney Rock and enjoyed the little towns so much. We actually rented a gigantic house on VRBO and it was the best. BRAND NEW | BLACK MT. Check out the Blue Ridge, GA area. We've rented cabins with our kids in that area before from VRBO. There are a lot of wineries, cute shops, apple houses/orchards, and restaurants in the area.

Also check out Ashville, NC. We're going there in August, and we'll be touring The Biltmore, as well as checking out the Asheville area. It's supposed to be a lot of fun.
