Sounds like you're in much better hands now. Do Thelma and Louise like the new vet? I would imagine that they picked up on the negative energy coming off the previous one.
I clipped Louise's hoof too close and she didn't walk on it for two days. When she finally did put her weight back on it, the vet showed up. I was late on their vaccinations and needed to make sure she was up to date on her tetanus. But then the vet asked if I wanted to have them de-wormed and I really don't like those pellets because I don't know how much they actually eat so I said yes. Unfortunately the shot version is right in the anus.
Poor girl will never forgive me.
Good news is that I really like the new vet. The one they had since we got them was the only one in the area and she strongly disapproved of pet goats. I got a snarky remark every year. She had meat goats and really did not like me on principle so much so that she deleted the record every single time so I had to "re-register" the goats with the staff every time. New vet though specializes in 4-H and pets. She'll only take care of pet cattle, not production herds. I was prepared for a lecture on care since I'm not entirely confident as I'm not in the goat community as it were but all she said was that their weight is good and I shouldn't worry about the hoof.
I'm almost glad that it happened (sorry, Louise) just to establish the relationship in case they ever get really hurt. I was 99% certain the other vet would have just put them down if there was a problem.

Thelma wasn't happy about getting her scurs cuts off but it was a lot better than the other vet who literally ripped one off at the root and declared that Thelma didn't feel anything even though there was blood everywhere. I disagreed.
Goats are funny. They scream bloody murder then are fine the second you set them loose. Not big on restraints as a general rule. Well, unless they're eating at the time.
My twin has goats on her farm - they are keeping a female in the barn with the calves. I asked her if she had seen the movie Ferdinad yet and she said no, i laughed and told her about the goat that keeps the bulls calm, then bought the movie for her. (Note: I do not approve of bull fighting in any way, shape or form). We used to call Coleman Ferdinand because of his size and sweetest personality
Have you ever had to burp a goat? My twin's father in law had to several years ago - he got into something in the field, bloated and went down. they called the vet and the vet said to take a hard stick and put at the back of his teeth where he would chew on it, with that the goat burped a couple of times and was able to get up. He was an ornary fellow. That was over 10 years ago there might be a better way these days to burp a goat if needed.

You learn something new every day. Burping a goat. Cool.
I remember your difficulties with the other vet.
A co-worker has goats and three gave birth within a day of one another this week. Seven kids. Anyway one of the nannies had trouble and after helping, my co-worker finally had to get some sleep, fully expecting to find her dead in the morning and have three bottle babies. Not so. She was standing, eating a little, and today is almost back to normal. Except.
She wants nothing to do with her kids. Fortunately there is a lot of milk in the freezer and there is formula.

First, can't imagine a vet being as cruel as your first vet. If she didn't want to treat goats, she should not.
An injection in the anus! OMG, I'd be yelling too. I've seen videos of goats being wormed and it seemed to be a liquid you put down their throat. Is that passé now? Glad you've connected with a vet you have confidence in.
Labsnewfy: I had visions of your recounting burping a goat with the farmer having a goat on his shoulder, patting its back.
