My rural township is facing massive development plans that exceed provincially set guidelines (with the blessing of the 91**67 gov't.) and would make it the same size, population wise) as one of the county cities in just over 10 years.

The good old boy mentality of many people in the area, and the narrow mindedness that goes with it.

These people who come into the area and camp. I’m not talking about snowbirds, they usually go to RV parks and pay for 5 or 6 mos. I’m talking about these people who “fulltime” in their RV or van and toss trash in our BLM lands and dump their frigging raw sewage with the attitude, “hey, it’s just desert, who cares!?!” These areas are really feeling the impact now and the abuse is leading to more and more restrictions and complications. I have always understood that you take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but desolving footprints.

Shopping tourists - our roads are full and stores horribly crowded with tourist shoppers. Going into town even to the grocery store takes forever, no matter what day or time we go - always have to drive around and around the parking lot to find a place to park and the lines inside are atrocious. As much as I like to support local businesses, I hate crowds and most of my shopping is now done online.

Our township has a bylaw prohibiting owning chickens in urbanized areas. The main complaint which prompted the bylaw was that chickens are noisy.

So is the neighbours' table saw I'm listening to right now. As is traffic noise, cats yowling in the middle of the night, snowmobiles and ATVs . . . I could go on.

We'd like to have a few chickens which would give us some really fresh eggs.
