    Cancer screenings and health professionals.

I am coming off a series of issues with people trying to convince me that my Zo has cancer and also that I have cancer. Neither of us do. At least not for the tests for which we were unnecessarily put through.

The thing with Zo is on the Fire Hydrant forum. This was so off base with a vet diagnosing Zo with hemangiosarcoma without reason. She jut decided that Zo had an enlarged spleen. Even after the results were in, she left a message yesterday about Zo's "enlarged spleen" which the ultrasound showed was perfectly normal.

In my case, I had my mammogram and the tech was so convinced that my lumps which I have had since I was 17 were cancer that she told me that she influenced a series of additional tests by "making her case" to the doctor. I'm lumpy, I've been biopsied and ultrasounded, there's no history in my family, it just is what it is. So I went through yet another series of ultrasounds and x-rays just because of this woman.

Both of these people in this last week wanted me to be afraid, either for my dog or for myself. This is not the first time I have experienced this kind of thing and I personally have skipped tests. One tech proudly informed me that a patient from a previous week was so terrified that she passed out during her mammo, hit her head on the edge of a counter and was sent the emergency room. It is so stressful to be subjected to this and I'm sick of it.

What is this attitude? Has anyone else gone through this? At my house, we recently began to call it cancer terrorism.

I used to be lumpy, too, but that's influenced by caffeine. After I gave up all caffeine (not because of the lumps), I no longer had lumps.

I've found that some doctors have very poor ways of coming across to patients. I've encountered a cardiologist who made a whizzing contest out of my calcium score (test for arterial accumulation) and two orthopedic specialists whose arrogance totally clouded their judgement (wrong diagnoses...one who ignored my symptoms totally and one who distorted their significance). I try to stay away from most specialists.

So glad to hear Zo's spleen is OK.
