    Goodies from Toronto?

My husband has been traveling for business. A lot. At first, it was stressful, even though some of these places were in Europe, because these trips are only a few days at a time. Then we started thinking it through. Add a day and see something, anything in that city or area. Try a new food. Find out something historical about the area from the client. And bring something home.

The thing(s) to bring home are generally food related. In particular, we tend toward sweets and chocolates but it can be anything he can put in a suitcase, especially if he can find it duty free at an airport as long as it's not liquid. In one case, hard cheese. Recently a trip to the Pacific Northwest gave us shelf stable smoked salmon and a really nice fruit dessert in a box. There was also a tulip bulb situation in Europe.

He's going to Toronto in a few weeks and I was wondering what he should look for. Anything specific to the area would be great. Any thoughts on goodies from the area?

Maybe not specific to Toronto, but chocolate bars such as Smarties, Coffee Crisp are popular in Canada.

I’d suggest going to Dollarama to buy chocolate bars, generally cheaper there than grocery stores.

    Or maybe something from Vachon

I’m a fan of Passion Flakies and Ah’ Caramel.

Hickory Sticks if you want a salty treat. Ketchup, All-dressed or dill pickle potato chips.

Maybe get a box of Kraft Dinner to compare with the US version.

My first thought was maple syrup, it's the season right now. But of course it's made where you are too. Maybe some hormone free meat and milk?

We had visitors from North Dakota and the thing they wanted to take home was peameal bacon (Canadian bacon in some States) It is a brined pork loin. Not sure how well it would travel.

We have a local brand, Utz, down here. The plant is literally down the road from us. They make a dill pickle potato chip that I have only found in one grocery store. Definitely asking my husband to pick up whatever he can find there. I can't stop eating them.

Oh definitely the maple cream cookies. Last time someone said they would bring some to work he shared them with some other folks before coming to our team meeting and "oh sorry, I didn't think they would eat them all" is all we got.

Not crazy about Smarties (different than the US kind), but recommend Coffee Crisp. Also Kinder Eggs are cool (chocolte shaped egg with a toy inside).

Here is a pretty good list. A few I didn't realize you could not get in the US.

    https://www.narcity.com/ca/on/toront...-united-states

I am now craving a Wonderbar and bag of Hickory Sticks. I can't imagine how many filling have been pulled out of teeth due to Mackintosh "MACK" Toffee.
    Thanks Everyone!!

The Kinder Eggs look like the Kinder Joy eggs they sell in the US now. With a little plastic toy inside.

I've never been to Canada but we're going/coming to Montreal next month. The Crush cream soda and the poutine are calling my name more than any chocolate on your list.
