The commentators say that the recommendation is to keep your fob, when not in use, in a RFID blocking pouch or wrap it in tinfoil.

Our thieves hit a few streets, change neighborhoods, wait a couple months until we become complacent and return. The good news is that they are usually after the loose change and leave everything else rummaged through but not too much of a mess. On a rare occasion, they take the entire car for a joy ride and it is several miles away.

In my case, I probably did leave it unlocked because of dog distractions. They took some groceries that I was planning to take for work the next day but they also took a tool but left it down the street in another neighbors car!!! That night they hit about 7 cars on my street.

I read that a few months back and shrugged it off.I think I am going to grab a pouch for the house.

I have a RFID blocker on my travel back pack and sling bag that I use when taking my gopro out.

Probably would not hurt to get a wallet with a liner as well.

They look pretty inexpensive on Amazon.
    Thanks Everyone!!

I don't know if the cams described here utilize P2P (Peer to Peer) protocol but this article by security researcher and reporter Brian Krebs reinforces my reluctance to jump into the Internet of Things.

Getting OT: I read an article about internet stuff somewhere. Can't find it now. Someone commented about their car's tire pressure sensor failing and getting quoted something like $600 for a replacement. 'Uh no, I have a pressure gauge that works fine, thank you.'

He added that there must be a market for a vehicle that doesn't have an infotainment centre, backup cam, lane departure sensor, heated steering wheel, Bluetooth, electric hatch opener/closer, etc. Such a vehicle would cost thousands less. I'd buy it.

Though heated seats would be swell.

We live in a very rural area, we lock our cars every night now, we never did up until 5 years ago, when a neighbors kid got his license. We would tank off our gas tanks and find them 1/2 empty the next morning, so we set up a video camera and caught the kid in the act. It seems we weren't the only ones he was ripping off. A few years later someone started taking loose change, small electronics and expensive sun glasses that we left in the cars, at that point some of the neighbors were missing very expensive stereo systems from their cars and gps systems. We had motion lights installed and that seemed to help stop the activity. We went back to locking and setting the alarms in our cars, we had a security system installed, kind of over kill for a house in the country, that is surrounded by conservation land, like Bambi and Baloo are thieves, what happened to parents teaching kids core values?
