I have 2 ramps that both work about the same. I like the slightly higher sides to keep the dogs going straight up the ramp but the weather tech one, which is at least 5 years newer, is lighter in weight but only by about a pound. I'd try to let your pup try walking back and forth on the ramp with it lying flat on the ground before trying to use it to get in and out of the car. I also let mine practice walking on it when it's propped up on one or 2 steps since it's much steeper to get into the back of the SUV. I've used it in a minivan and 2 different SUVs.

I have this one. It's a bit heavy, but it's well made and holds an 80 pound Lab just fine.

My only recommendation is not to buy online unless you know what you're getting. I bought one years ago and it turned out to have some kind of weird sandpapery texture on the ramp that my dogs just hated.
