Ooooo I would put Hydrangea or a Rose of Sharon there!
This is the corner of a fence project we completed last last summer. It's a shady area for most of the day. I put down some edging already to form a circle in the corner. Not sure what to plant.
We have a couple Umbrella trees around the property that we like but I was thinking of something with colour that will grow up a high as the fence but not necessary. We have lilacs everywhere so not interested in those.
We used to have a ton of Peony's around the property and now just a few clumps. I was thinking of moving some of them to the front of the circle.
Ooooo I would put Hydrangea or a Rose of Sharon there!

Maybe a Fothergilla if you could find one. We have one in a shady corner. It’s maybe 3’ high and right now has theses cute little flowers that look like little bottle brushes. Ours has nice yellow colour in the fall.

It won't grow high, maybe a foot at most, but I love my corydalis lutea in my shady spot. Prolific yellow flowers and it blooms continuously from May to October. It is said to be invasive but in my dry sand it is not at all. Pretty dog tolerant but likely won't take a lot of rough housing.

I saw a little Rose Tree at Home Depot this morning that was pretty. I was going to pick it up but had to think about the thorns and the dogs.
I personally would put in raspberries. They're not for everybody but they're great for dog self-serve.
