How not to sell things online....

I have been trying to buy a few things on Kijiji without much luck.

We need a little three drawer dresser or something similiar and I find a nice one at a reasonable price. I contact the guy. Is it still for sale and where are you located so we can arrange a meeting. He just writes back that yes it is for sale. I am not sure if I am supposed to guess where he is or what. I gave up.

I still like video games and a guy which appears to be within a few blocks of my house has one for sale at a good price. I ask is it for sale. He immediately writes back and says yes so I ask him where he wants to meet. Three days later (today) he writes and says that he is home and it would be a good say to do it. I write back immediately and ask him where and what time. That was over 8 hours ago.

I couldn't give money away right now if I tried.
      Thanks Everyone!!

I replied to an ad on Nextdoor for a corner mount hay dispenser thing (I don't know what they're called but it's like a metal bar basket for stables). She responded with her address and good times to come by. I responded to that saying that we would be in the area that afternoon during one of her time windows to pick it up. Showed up and she was really put off because she wasn't expecting us. She hadn't checked her e-mail. Mind you they were outside doing yard work so it wasn't as if we had interrupted anything but never again. She was so rude.

      ?hay rack?

I've only bought one thing from Craigslist and fortunately, the seller was quite responsive, lived a few blocks from me, and the whole transaction went just fine. I'm always a little concerned that if I was selling something, some ax murderer would show up to kill me and steal what I was selling so I've never tried selling anything that way- I'd rather just donate it.

I sold a car as is online two years ago and every weirdo in the area responded. Trades for guns, snowmobiles with no registration numbers, payment plans and more. I really researched the guy out that ended up buying it.

Around here, the police advertise doing these transactions on their building parking lots so that there'd be a lot of people around/extra potential security. Actually, that might be a national thing.

I went to see a butcher block stand "Nancy" advertised. It didn't look in good enough shape so I figured I'd dicker on the price a bit. Got there and there was no Nancy. She'd died a year ago, cancer, and her husband just kept using her Facebook. YIKES. The stand was in his open garage so I figured it was safe to continue. He insisted on loading it in my car for me and then he had to sit down and rest. He has cancer too, lung, and he reeked of smoke and so did the butcher block. He was so nice, I felt like I should offer him more money than he asked. Sad situation.

The parking lot idea is a good one. OH has gone a couple of times to be with a single mother friend who was selling items, at a parking lot.
