I'm the same way. If it's pretty or has a use, I leave it be. Not every landscaped area has to be a rhododendron surrounded by dyed mulch. Someone once asked me how to keep squirrels away. I suggested planting mint. He snapped back that mint was a WEED. That was years ago and I still don't get it. No such thing as too much mint plus the pretty flowers.

I don't think I've ever heard of fleabane. Or bird's foot trefoil. Nice!

voodoo we do have hummingbirds. We don’t have chickadees, haven’t for years, and this is good chickadee country. I see and hear them in the bush near home but not in the yard.

sundance, thank you and yep. Sometimes it’s good to be the boss . . . sometimes.

    labsnewfy, aren’t they?

Faye, thanks for helping me out with the names. Sometimes I have a hard time remembering these details.

Snowshoe, our townships do the same thing. Perhaps as budgets continue tightening the flowers will be allowed to flower and go to seed. Texas did that years and years ago; the result is lovely landscapes.

smartrock, Faye’s encyclopedic memory helped me out. Aren’t they attractive?

Jollymolly, thanks! You probably know what I mean about Texas highway roadsides.

JackK, yep. We try to do some of that around our property as well.

janedoe, also yep. To us not everything has to be neat and tidy. I didn’t know or had forgotten that about mint!

Good for you! They are beautiful. I can just imagine fields of these beauties. Plus, they are hearty as all get out.

Red clover, by many is said to be a weed. It was purposely planted along the interstate in GA and when they bloom it's an amazing red carpet, not to be missed.
