    Squirrels and apple trees

I have four young apple trees in my backyard. Diggity LOVED to chew off the branches, so I put temporary fencing up around them. Problem solved. Until...the apples started coming out and the squirrels discovered them! The last couple of days about half of my apples have been eaten. Frustrated! I did some online research and just ordered this to see if it will help:

Tanglefoot Tree Insect Barrier Tub 15 OZ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077XMQLTS..._GBweDbW6M4NW1

Not even sure if it will arrive in time. I am worried I will go out tomorrow and find all my apples gone.

Anyone have experience with this? Ideas welcome!

Last year something came along in the middle of the night and took all of the peaches off my producing tree. Every single one. I have no advice other than that I've been encouraging the garter snakes and find that I have a much smaller rodent population this year than last. And the garters are huge.

I think you are in Massachusetts too. I’ve had snakes in the past, but have not seen any this year. Maybe they’ve all gone to your house!

Maybe! We welcome whatever moves from your area.

This is the first year I've seen them in a while other than one or two here and there. My mother in law was on a mission to destroy all snakes for decades both on her property (the one we live at now) and the neighbor's. The boarding school's barn came along and we wound up with a massive problem. She would not have approved of my methods but boy are they effective. Found a huge garter on our front porch today eating a toad five times the width of its head. Not happy about the toad but other methods are just brutal.
